Cara Vaca Cross:
In Cara Vaca, Spain in 1231, a priest imprisioned during the Moor occupation was instructed by his captors to say Mass to satisfy their curiosity. The priest began, but had to stop when he realized a cross - a required element - was not present. The captors grew angry at the delay, but then, through an open window, a cross arrived: the Pectoral Cross of the Patriarch of Jerusalem, miraculously transported to the site by two angels.
Caravaca de la Cruz:
Caravaca de la Cruz is a town in SE Spain, in Murcia, on the Caravaca River. It is a farm center for an area producing cereals, potatoes, fruits, and grapes. It has textile, footwear, and brandy manufactures. The miraculous Cross of Caravaca, taken from the Moors in 1241 by Ferdinand III of Castile, was formerly kept in the Church of the Most Holy Cross (1617). Many ancient remains have been found in the area.
 Engraving on Crosses
Many ask about engraving on crosses. This particular cross is XR102 from
this page, and is a flat cross.
Most gold crosses are not flat across the back, and are therefore not suitable for engraving on the back. Additionally, the manufacturer will often put a makers mark on the back side of the cross. Hollow crosses are solid gold but hollow in the middle and therefore not suitable for engraving. Very detailed crosses and crucifixes will most likely have detailed backs as well. However, a flat cross can be engraved directly on the front.
